Coding

Coding Butterfly

It has been in works for a long time, unavoidable, and now it’s here!
Our students can expand their knowledge of Coding, Robotics, Game Design and many more topics with Coding Butterfly.

Starting September 2018 Studio of Engaging Math will offer computer classes
in partnership with Coding Butterfly.

Kids are surrounded by technology and computers are central to most aspects of our lives. Kids who learn the basics of programming can become better architects of their future world. Kids relish the challenge to become active participants instead of passive consumers. In addition, the computational thinking (analytical, logical) skills that underlie coding will be required for future knowledge workers to continuously adapt to our increasingly data filled world. There is growing recognition that computer literacy is essential for a 21st century workforce.

Learning how to code can provide kids with a wide variety of alternative methods and learning tools that makes math fun, can alleviate the frustration associated with traditional homework tasks, and can give kids new ways to understand how math functions in their daily lives.

On it’s most basic level, code is a “computer language” that tells a program what to do and how to function, and it requires students to use critical thinking skills to test different inputs and outputs in the same way they would when learning any foreign language. The methods of problem-solving involved in coding are integral to a student’s ability to solve any type of problem and can help widen the scope of learning and understanding in a way that makes math more accessible by showing students that there are many ways to solve problems.

Coding can also help kids develop a better sense of visualization and relation to spaces since it requires conceptual thinking and allows them to see the results of their calculations. Coding gives kids a kinesthetic experience of not only performing the actions necessary to create something but also giving them a visual output of their work – and this definitely makes math more fun!

Starting August 1st we want to invite you and your kids to come in for a free demo ROBLOX GAME DESIGN class. We promise you that your kids will ask to come back for more fun and exciting classes!
